Prior to coming to Hueytown, he worked at Bessemer Academy where he assisted with the defensive backs and served as the Head JV Baseball Coach.

While at Jeff Davis, Coach Ray also worked with Running Backs. In 2009, he began working with Coach Greg Patterson as his assistant at Sumiton Christian. He comes to Hueytown with his wife Jessica and will coach offensive line, tight ends, and h-backs while teaching math. He played college football at Tusculum College from 2004-2008. Coach Jarrett Tuggle begins his first year coaching here at Hueytown High School. Before returning to Hueytown, he served as Head Football Coach at Southeastern High School. Franklin began his coaching career at Bryant High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama working with defensive backs and wide receivers.

Coach Barnett received his bachelor�s degree from Athens State in Social Science and his master�s degree in Sports Management from the University of Alabama. After serving as Defensive Coordinator for 17 years, and head coach for 5 years, he now serves Hueytown as an assistant coach. Franklin later attended Shelton State and the University of Alabama graduating with a Bachelor's in Secondary Education: Social Studies.

Hueytown also made it to the 2016 state playoffs under Coach Scott Mansell, who was in his third year as Head Coach. Coach Mansell begins his 21st year of coaching this year. He then took a defensive line assistant coaching position at Independence Community College in Kansas in 2015. Currently, he is a student at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where he is majoring in physical education.

The Alabama Football Coaches Association picked Hueytown High School head coach Scott Mansell as the Class 6a Coach of the Year. Coach Franklin is going on his 4th season with the Gophers, and his first season as quarterback coach/offensive coordinator. Coach Wells is in his fourth year of coaching at Hueytown High School, coaching the secondary. Coach Mansell played at the collegiate level at Mississippi State and Samford University.

Longtime defensive coordinator is in his first year at Hueytown, but he's been named the interim coach to replace Mark Stephens. After serving as Defensive Coordinator for 17 years, he is now in his fifth season as Head Coach.

He served one year as Assistant Head Basketball Coach at Scottsboro High School (5A) and two years at Section High School (2A) as Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Basketball Coach.

4A- Danny Raines, Headland. This is his seventh year of coaching. "I keep giving him a hard time by calling him a consultant," Patterson joked.Hueytown finished 9-3 last year and defeated Eufaula in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs before falling 6-0 to Saraland in the second round.There's excitement surrounding the program, based on last year's success and the return of Alabama commit Roydell Williams at running back after he amassed more than 2,700 rushing yards -- a single-season school record -- last year.A coaching change and the turmoil associated with it could have damaged the program's momentum, but Patterson and Mansell agreed that didn't happen.“I think everybody was nervous, but Coach Mansell told the whole staff back in late January or early February what his plans were,” Patterson said. After graduation, he played at Copiah-Lincoln Community College for two seasons, earning a number of Div. HHS's softball team has won the Alabama State Softball championship three times in four years: 2005 and 2006 as a 5A school and 2008 as a 6A school under Coach Lissa Walker.

Ashlee, his 15-year-old daughter, attends Walker High School and is a member of the color guard. thens State in Social Science and his Master's degree in Sports Management from the University of Alabama. Coach Barnett is married to Kayla Barnett and they have one son, Weston. While playing defensive line at UAB the past 2 seasons, Coach Williams was blessed to be a part of the programs first Conference USA Championship and first-ever bowl win. Scott Mansell .

Scott Mansell . "It wasn't all about the Ws and they liked the changes we were making in the program. Coach Mansell decided to retire from the public school system, but continue to serve as a part time teacher and coach.

He earned his master's degree in athletic administration from Concordia University-Irvine and became certified in physical education.

Coach Mansell played at the collegiate level at Mississippi State and Samford University. After high school, Coach Wells attended Meridian Community College where he received his A.S. in Computer Networking. Coach "T" is entering his first year of coaching at Hueytown High School as the Running Backs Coach. In both 2004 and 2008, Coach Haynes was awarded the Region 8 Coach of the Year when he served at Sparkman.

In 2013, he was hired at Minor to coach varsity running backs. Past coaching stops include Walker, Cullman, Sparkman and Bob Jones. He then volunteered at the University of Alabama at Birmingham as a student assistant coach from 2009 to 2010.
